Carlsmith Ball Hires Nicholas Jake Anderson, Dylan K. Goodale, and Ryan F. Witthans in Honolulu Office

Carlsmith Ball LLP welcomes Nicholas Jake Anderson, Dylan K. Goodale, and Ryan F. Witthans to the firm as associates in the Honolulu office. All three are 2025 law school graduates and previously summered with the firm.

Anderson is in the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution practice group. He has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder and received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law with a certificate in International Law. During law school, he served as a Managing Editor and Staff Writer for the University of Hawaii Law Review, externed for the Honorable Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald (ret.) of the Hawaii Supreme Court, was a Research Assistant for Professor Randle C. DeFalco, and a Teaching Assistant for Civil Procedure I and Constitutional Law I, and was a founding member of the Hawaii Sports Law and Negotiation Moot Court Team. Anderson earned a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for achieving the highest grade in International Ocean Law.   

Goodale is in the Transactional practice group. Born and raised on Kauai, he later attended the University of Southern California where he majored in English, graduating magna cum laude and named to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. During law school, Goodale served as Lead Articles Editor of the Pepperdine Law Review. He was also a Research Assistant for Professor Shelley Ross Saxer and a Teaching Assistant for Legal Research and Writing. He earned CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for achieving the highest grades in Property, Legal Research and Writing I, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Federal Income Taxation.

Witthans is in the Transactional practice group. A Hilo native and alumnus of Kamehameha Schools, he obtained a B.A. in Finance from Dartmouth College and received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law. During law school, Witthans was an Outside Articles Editor and Staff Writer for the University of Hawaii Law Review and earned CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for achieving the highest grades in Real Property and Criminal Law.
