CARLSMITH BALL DEEPLY SADDENED BY THE DEATH OF JON M. VAN DYKE, FACULTY SCHOLAR AT THE WILLIAM S. RICHARDSON SCHOOL OF LAW, UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII

HONOLULU, HAWAII - December 1, 2011 - Carlsmith Ball attorneys and staff are deeply saddened by the loss of Professor Jon M. Van Dyke, the inaugural Carlsmith Ball Faculty Scholar at the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii. "When we established the Carlsmith Ball Faculty Scholar position in 2009, we envisioned the role being filled by just such an extraordinary scholar and exemplary human being as Jon Van Dyke," said Carlsmith Chair Karl Kobayashi. "We extend our condolences to his wife and family, and all of his colleagues at the University of Hawaii. He will be sorely missed."

Carlsmith Ball has benefited from the University's distinguished law school program, hiring graduates who have the values, skills, and knowledge to serve clients and the Asia-Pacific community with honor. Professor Van Dyke was a leader among the faculty who helped to inspire those graduates and imbue them with the qualities necessary to become servant leaders.
