Bill Harstad offers guidance on workplace harassment policies
The #MeToo movement reached critical mass in 2018 as it brought to light issues of sexual harassment in the workplace. In his Honolulu Star-Advertiser Lawyer Up column, Honolulu partner Bill Harstad offered advice to employers for initiating or revisiting workplace policies to foster a safe, harassment-free environment for employees. "Thinking 'it cannot happen here,' is a mistake," Harstad stated. He suggested every employer make it a New Year's resolution to reduce the risk of claims and ensure a better workplace.
