Leo Y. Shimizu
Leo Shimizu is an Associate in the firm’s Honolulu office and a member of its Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution practice group. Leo received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law. While in law school, Leo was a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Richard R. Clifton, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Leo has received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Lawyering Fundamentals II; Second Year Seminar; Contract Drafting; Commercial Real Estate Transactions; Federal Income Taxation. As a research assistant to Professor Ronald C. Brown, Leo's focus was in the areas of labor and employment law, employment discrimination law, and Asian International and Comparative Labor Law. In addition, Leo was also the Staff Editor for the Asian-Pacific Law and Policy Journal.
Leo has prior professional experience in a range of fields, as well as being a secondary mathematics teacher and athletics coach at Nanakuli High and Intermediate School. Leo received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California, Viterbi School of Engineering, and his Masters of Education in Teaching from the University of Hawaii.
