HONOLULU, HAWAII—November 18, 2014—Carlsmith Ball is pleased to announce that Shirley S. Lou-Magnuson have joined the firm as associates resident in the firm's Honolulu office.
Lou-Magnuson is a member of the firm's Real Property Practice Group. Her practice also includes corporate, business, banking, and regulatory law. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Katherine G. Leonard of the Hawai`i Intermediate Court of Appeals, as well as a judicial extern to the Honorable Simeon R. Acoba of the Hawai`i Supreme Court and Honorable Richard R. Clifton of the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Lou-Magnuson received her J.D. degree cum laude from the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa, William S. Richardson School of Law. During law school, she was the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Asian-Pacific Law & Policy Journal and Captain of the Saul Lefkowitz Intellectual Property Moot Court Team, which won Best Oral Argument and Best Overall Team at the 2013 national championship. Lou-Magnuson also received various scholastic awards, including CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in her Appellate Advocacy, Contracts I, and Immigration courses. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
