Sonia Chien concentrates her practice in taxation.  She advises and represents clients in a wide array of business and personal tax matters, including complex federal and state tax issues. Ms. Chien has extensive experience in providing counsel on taxation matters that are involved or result from business transactions, including real estate transactions, business investments, mergers and acquisitions, and purchases and sales. Her practice encompasses providing advice and delivering support for transactions of an international nature and with tax issues spanning multiple global tax jurisdictions.

Ms. Chien's practice spans the entire spectrum of industries, including high-technology, life sciences, digital media, consumer products, financial services, and real estate.  She also represents clients in all aspects of tax controversies and litigations with the Internal Revenue Service and with state and local tax authorities, including audits, coordinated exams, administrative appeals, and both civil and criminal tax cases in federal and state courts.
