Mr. Thornton's principal area of focus and deep experience is in the intellectual property field, including trademarks, copyrights, unfair competition, and other proprietary rights matters. Practicing for over 30 years, Mr. Thornton has extensive experience in the licensing of proprietary rights, as well as preparation and prosection of both domestic and foreign trademark applications relating to a variety of industries including technology and healthcare.

During his extensive career, he has represented a number of corporate and individual clients in trademark infringement and unfair competition matters. Additionally, he has experience as trial counsel in various specialized corporate and business matters including takeovers, 10b5 defenses, shareholders' rights disputes, corporate and financial institution change of control matters, and bankruptcies.
