Robert E. Strand concentrates his practice in the areas of complex real estate transactions, equipment leasing, water law and public utilities matters.

Some examples of his legal work include:

Commercial Leasing: Represents the Ala Moana Shopping Center in connection with commercial lease negotiations and related operations. Ala Moana Center, with over 200 stores, is the largest open-mall shopping center in the United States and the largest shopping complex in the State of Hawaii.

Real Estate Acquisitions: Represented foreign investor in the acquisition of the 4,600 acre Kaluakoi Resort on Molokai including a 144-room resort hotel, an 18-hole championship golf course and hotel, condominium and commercial sites. Represented Hawaii Hotel Operator in connection with the acquisition of hotel and condominium projects in Waikiki and the Bishop Trust Office Building in Honolulu's financial district. Represented foreign investors in the acquisitions of the Honolulu Club Building, the 719-room Hawaiian Waikiki Beach Hotel, and the Bank of Hawaii Waikiki Office Building.

Kapolei Civic Center: Represents the Campbell Estate in connection with the development of an office/judicial/library complex for the State of Hawaii in the Second City of Kapolei on Oahu.

Kulamanu Estates: Represents the Australian developer of a 57-lot residential subdivision in Kula, Maui.

Public Utilities: Represents water and wastewater utility companies before the Public Utilities Commission of the State of Hawaii in certification, rate and other tariff matters.

Equipment Leasing: Represents Bank of Hawaii and Pacific Century Leasing, Inc. as an equity participant in leveraged and single investor leases of commercial aircraft, cruise vessels, railcars and fleet vehicles.
